Title: Biblical Concepts of Elder Care Ministries
Date: August 29, 2010
Size: 12.6 MB |
Phil 2:19-21
Deacons minister in horizontal, earthly ways. Elders are to minister in vertical, spiritual ways. Do you want your Elders to care for you? Do you want God to care for you? Today we’ll look at how Elders are to minister care to the brethren.
In today’s reading, Paul mentions Timothy’s care. Care is defined as looking out for, being concerned for, promoting one’s Spiritual welfare.
Here are 6 elements of Elder’s care we learn from this scripture;
Elders are to care for the flock of God Elder’s care must be sincere Elder care is a selfless ministry Elder care is Christ-focused Elder care is God-given Elder care ministry purpose
Elders are to be examples of care to the Church of God, so you will care for others as well. 1 Cor 12:25

Title: Attributes of God in the Book of Nahum
Date: August 15, 2010
Size: 12.5 MB |
Nahum 1-3
Let’s study the attributes of God as displayed in the Book of Nahum.
The Emotion of God o Jealous vs 2 o Furious vs 2 o Angry ...The cause of God’s anger (3:1-4) o Vs 1 The bloody city o Vs 4 Harlotries and sorceries
The Justice of God o Avenges (vs 2) o Vengeance o Wrath (vs 8) There are 2 categories of people in God’s eyes, spiritually speaking; o Vs 2 adversaries (the unsaved) o Vs 7 those that trust God (the saved)
The extent of God’s wrath; o Vs 1:8 utter end The 4 most feared words of Scripture. “I am against you” vs 2:13;3:5
The Power of God He is omniscient.
God always does what He says He will do. He is faithful to His Word. This is bad news to the unsaved but GOOD NEWS to the saved! He says He afflicted Israel because of their disobedience, but the affliction will end.(vs 1:12).

Title: Hope for the Hopeless
Date: August 8, 2010
Size: 13.6 MB |
Matthew 11:28-30
The Invitation of Jesus vs 28 “Come”, the invitation of Jesus, is; Personal, universal, and necessary
Those that “come” are those who realize that what they have been trusting in for salvation doesn’t work. Your efforts apart from the Holy Spirit don’t cut it.
The Promise of Jesus vs 28 “I will give you rest” is in the causative active voice in the Greek; that is, you can’t “come” to Jesus and NOT find rest! All who sincerely come to Christ will be forgiven of their sin. No one will be turned away!
The Commission of Jesus vs 29 “Take My yoke upon you”
Jesus’ yoke is; Desirable and attainable (vs 30)
Faith in Christ saves the soul. The question is, do YOU believe?
Christ’s yoke and burden is like feathers to a bird, not an undesirable weight to carry but rather a means of survival.
There is hope for the hopeless, and that hope is Jesus Christ!

Title: Various Ministries int he Church
Date: August 1, 2010
Size: 12.7 MB |
What is the purpose of the Church body? Phil 1:27 to strive together for the faith of the Gospel.
Common Mission David and the 600 men had the same mission (rescue their families).
Application–In the Church, we may not have the same ministry, but we have the same goal.
Jesus picked US, we did not pick each other. We are to glorify God by evangelizing the lost and edifying the Saints.
Various Ministries David’s Ministry vs 8,17,21 400 Warrior’s Ministry vs 10 200 Guard’s Ministry vs24
Rom 12:4 says we are many members of one body, but we don’t all have the same function (1 Cor 3:6).
Divided Ministers Pride can cause division Humility is needed to remind us all we have and do is from Him (Rom 12:3;Phil 4:13;John 15:15)
Unity in the Church is vital! Ps 133:1, Matt 12:25).
Your success is not measured by fruit in the ministry, rather by faithfulness to what you are called to do.

Everyone has, or will experience, distress in this world. How does the Bible tell us to handle distress? Let’s look at a distressful experience David had, as told in 1 Samuel 30.
David’s Distress The enemy had captured the wives and children of David and his men.
Extent of David’s Distress .Overwhelming .Personal Loss .Possible Death .Loneliness
Effect of David’s Distress .Emotional Drain .Physical Drain David could not get any lower emotionally and physically.
David’s Dependence We can’t choose the cause of distress in our lives but we do choose how we are going to get through them.
David strengthened himself in the Lord. Why did David seek the Lord for strength? Humility! He acknowledged he could not handle this on his own, but God could.
What about God gave him strength? .God’s Promises .God’s Power .God’s Providential Care

Title: Help Us Help You
Date: July 18, 2010
Size: 12.4 MB |
1 Sam 14:1-14
This message includes an observation of the focus of the armorbearer and the focus of the warrior, and how they worked together to accomplish their goal.
The elders of the Church are the warriors, and the congregation represents the armorbearers. Let’s study how the elders working together with the congregation can accomplish great things for God.
The Ministry of the Armorbearer .Not the main focus in battle .Receives instruction .Yielded .Supportive .Obedient
The Ministry of the Warrior .Shares his vision .Total dependence on God's will .Total dependence on God's strength .Shares the game plan .Initiates action
Warriors and armorbearers need to work together in order to do the will of God and do great things for God.

Title: Glory in The Cross
Date: July 11, 2010
Size: 12.7 MB |
Paul says let him that glory, glory in The Cross.
“The Cross” is the symbol of the death of Christ. Paul was glorying in what took place on the cross.
Why glory in The Cross?
1. I no longer hold the world in bondage. 1 John 2:15, Eph 2:1-3 We are alive in Christ, rather than in the philosophy of the world. Gal 5:24 we have crucified the flesh. When unsaved, the world has you in bondage and you have the world in bondage.
2. The world no longer holds me in bondage.
3. I am a new creation. John 3:3;2 Cor 5:17.
4. Peace and mercy. Rom 5:1, Col 1:20 The blood at The Cross gave us peace. Mercy is the outward expression of the compassion of God. Tit 3:5, not according to what we have done, but according to His mercy we are saved.
With this in mind, let's remember Jesus' death with communion.

Title: The Mantle of Service
Date: June 20, 2010
Size: 0.1 MB |
**There is no audio for this Sermon**
The story in 2 Kings 2:1-18 tells of the passing of the mantle of service from one generation to the next. Note the 3 key players in this story;
Elijah–the first generation leader, the teacher, mentor Elisha–the next generation, the apprentice, learner, student 50 Prophets–observers, watching from a distance, not involved
We are all engaged in a battle, and while we may be hard-pressed, we are not crushed (2 Cor 4:8-10).
Put on the spiritual armor (Eph 6:10-17).
The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy but Jesus came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). The fiery barbs of the devil will come. Persevere and don’t give up.
How do you encourage others to persevere? Heb 12:1-3 Look to Jesus! Fix your eyes on Him Who called you and be obedient to the call on your life. Col 1:28,29 strive with the energy of Jesus.

Title: Aspects of Daniel's Prayer Life
Date: June 13, 2010
Size: 10.4 MB |
Daniel was a young Jewish boy captured during the Babylonian conquest of Israel. He grew up and became one of the wise men in the court of the king. When the king had a dream and the other wise men could not tell the king the dream and its interpretation, he asked if he could pray to God for the wisdom the king was seeking.

Petition in Prayer–vs 18 Daniel prayed for mercies before God.

Title: Growing the Local Church
Date: June 6, 2010
Size: 13.4 MB |
The Church needs to grow to become complete (mature), both numerically and spiritually.
Growing the Church Numerically – vs 21 Numerical growth is sinners saved (Acts 5:14). Church is the called-out ones purchased by the blood of Jesus (Acts 20:28). Christians transferred from one Church to another does not grow the universal Church.
Means of Numerical Growth .Preach vs 19,20 To preach (the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.)means to boldly declare. .God’s Favor vs 21 The hand of the Lord (God’s favor, strength, support, and approval)was with them (Lk 1:66).
Growing the Church Spiritually A healthy Church is growing spiritually.
Means of Spiritual Growth .Exhortation vs 23 We need to encourage one another continually. .Desire to Grow vs 23,24 We need to purpose in our hearts toward growth in Christlikeness. .Discipleship vs 26 We need to help each other to grow by sharing and teaching what we have learned.

Title: God's Memorial Day
Date: May 30, 2010
Size: 8.5 MB |
Acts 10:1-11:1
Let’s look at what God considers a memorial from the New Testament.
Cornelius’s Faith Cornelius believed and served God to the best of his knowledge, even though he did not know how to be a Christian yet.
Cornelius’ Encounter In verse 3, we read Cornelius had an encounter with an Angel of God.
Cornelius’ Blessing In verse 31, it states God remembered Cornelius because of his faithfulness.
How does God see our prayers? In Rev 8:4 & Ps 141:2 says our prayers ascend before God. He sees them as a sweet-smelling offering.
Results of Cornelius Prayer Life God sent someone who could tell him about Jesus! Peter is summoned (vs 5,19,20). Cornelius heard the Gospel (vs 36-43) and received the Holy Spirit (vs 44-48).
All this because a faithful man prayed. What is God remembering about you?

Title: Hope in Grace
Date: May 23, 2010
Size: 9.5 MB |
1 Peter 5:10-11 Grace is unmerited, undeserved, unearned favor. The emphasis of grace is the giver, not the recipient.
->The Possessor of Grace (Rom 5:20) God saved you through His grace. No one else’s grace could give you Jesus.
->The Practicality of Grace Grace has no value unless it is expressed. God’s grace is costly. It cost His only begotten Son to provide the grace to save you. Jesus is the expression of God’s grace.
Grace saves us, sustains us, and sanctifies us. The Hope of Grace is that after the suffering is done, you will be perfected, established, strengthened, and settled.
->The Praise for Grace To Him be the Glory and dominion. “Him” is emphatic; that is, to Him and Him alone.
When you are not living for God it is because you have forgotten His Grace!
